Women’s Division
An invitation to all women members at MVCC to join the Women’s Division.
The Women’s Division (WD) of Meridian Valley Country Club extends a special invitation to all women with golfing privileges to join us. The purpose of this organization is to provide golf activities and to promote good sportsmanship. Our goal is to provide activities for the beginner golfer through to the advanced golfer, as well for the non-golfer among a camaraderie of like-minded women. We believe in giving back to our community by supporting two local charities, Kent Hope and Vine Maple Place.
Golf Activities
Tuesday is designated as Women’s Day on the golf course. All women golfers are welcomed to play Day, Twilight, or both.
Tuesday A.M. (Day) – Dedicated tee times for women are 8:00 to 11:00 or 8:30-11:00 depending on the Golf Shop hours. The WD season begins the first Tuesday of March and continues until mid-November. All women golfing members are welcomed to play during this time, either 18 or 9 holes.
Tuesday P.M. (Twilight) – Twilight dedicated tee times for women are from 3:30 to 6:00. If you participate in a Twilight event, play is for 9 holes. The season begins on the first Tuesday in May and continues through the last Tuesday in August. ALL women golfing members are welcomed to play during this time. For Twilight special events, if you are not a WD member a fun fee will be charged.
Weekly Competitions: For Day and Twilight play on days where there is not a special event, we have a weekly competition. If you are a WD member and have a GHIN handicap, you can participate in the weekly competitions. Payouts are determined by the number of golfers and divisions which are based on your handicap and are given in the form of Golf Shop credit.
Tournaments/Special Events: In addition to regular tee time golf, we have various tournament opportunities to play throughout the season. For Day players we have the Past Captain’s/Remembrance Tournament, the Eclectic Best Ball Tournament, and the Member/Member Tournament. We also have several fun and themed events on the golf course for both the day and Twilight golfing groups.: Field Days, Mixers, Day Meets Night, Horse Races, FATC-Food Around the Course, just to name a few. For all members we have Summer Madness, our match play tournament that runs through the summer.
Guests: The Women’s Division sponsors several events in which you can bring outside guests: the Women’s Member Guest, Guest Day, Twilight Guest Night, and Charity Day. We love to show off our course and the fun we have with our women members.
Outside Competitions: We also belong to the SWGA (Seattle Women's Golf Association), the WSWGA (Washington State Women's Golf Association), the Grandmother's Association, and Under 9s. For an additional fee, all WD members can play in their respective tournaments.
MVCC WD Team: The WD members with the lowest handicaps comprise our competitive Team. Throughout the golf season, 10 of our Team members compete against other Major club teams in both Scratch and Handicap divisions. MVCC WD Team finished the 2023 season in second place Scratch! Competitive golfers are encouraged to try out for Team.
Clinics: To encourage growth in the game, both the WD and Golf Shop sponsor a variety of clinics throughout the year for an additional charge. Lessons are available from several of our excellent Golf Shop staff members and our head Golf Instructor.
GHIN Handicap: All the women’s tournaments and competitions are organized around divisions that require one to have a GHIN handicap. This allows both the low and high handicap women to participate on an equal level and enjoy the game. While not necessary to join the WD, we do encourage our members who do not have a GHIN handicap to work towards getting one so they can track their improvement and participate in the payouts of our golf competitions. This can be done through the Golf Shop for a yearly fee of $40.
Non-Golfing Women’s Division Activities: We do more than play golf. We hope we provide the opportunity for women to make life-long friends both on and off the course.
Other activities include:
Social Gatherings –Our yearly Kickoff Dinner in March, our Charity Event in the summer, and our Holiday Party in December.
Games – Bridge, Mexican Train, Mahjong and Trivia games provide lots of socializing and fun.
Community Support – Donation collection and Charity Day event participation.
Joining is Easy
The annual membership fee to join our Women’s Division is $85.00. This pays for your entry to most of our special tournaments and weekly Tuesday Competitions. Let the front office know you are interested and fill out the registration form.
