MONTHLY BOARD MEETING MINUTES

January 13, 2010

 

CALLED TO ORDER BY PRESIDENT ED BANGSUND at 5:05 p.m.

 

ATTENDANCE:Ed Bangsund, Jan Lewis, Bill McLaughlin, Dale Mjelde, Jim Schack, Frank Wisdom, Bob Steiner, and Cheryl Havener

Absent: Ryan Thrower

 

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:Approved as written

 

TREASURERíS REPORT:Jim Schack

  • A current Profit and Loss Budget vs. Actual through January 2010 report and a long range investment information sheet was distributed for review.Discussion was held, copies attached in file.
  • Shannon and Associates have been given the information to complete our end of the year taxes.
  • All 2010 dues invoices were sent out in December.Two hundred three homeowners have not paid their dues.This is approximately the same as last year.There are still 18 days left to pay before late fees are assessed.Two lots are owned by banks and are behind in payments.We have another lot owner whose property is being foreclosed.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

COMMON GROUNDS:Ed Bangsund

  • The MYARD contract for 2010 is now signed and in file.

 

SECURITY:Dale Mjelde

  • A young man on his way to school at the south gate was frightened by a dog.Kim and I investigated and believe he saw a coyote.
  • The Security truck was purchased last week.MVCC, Craig Benson, bought the old one for $975.It is estimated to cost MVMA approximately $2,000 per year to operate the security truck.

 

WEBSITE:Robert Steiner

  • Posted the December and Annual Meeting minutes to the website.

         Sent an e-mail to the MVMA distribution list reminding residents of the Boy Scout Christmas tree pick up, January 2 and the City of Kent pickup on January 14.

         Renewed the Norton Security Software on the MVMA Office Computer.

         Will send out an e-mail to distribution reminding residents if they have not already paid their 2010 MVMA Annual dues that they must be paid before January 31 in order to avoid a late fee penalty.

 

ARCHITECTURAL:Frank Wisdom/Jan Lewis

  • We did not hold a meeting this month, but will hold one in February.
  • Randy McClaflin, after nine years, will be leaving the committee.The owner of Lot 95 may join.

 

FACILITIES:Bill McLaughlin

  • Tomorrow a letter will be sent to the owners of Lot 158 concerning the speed bump in front of their home.
  • An email was sent to the owner of Lot 266 concerning the moving a section of the fence on the south side.
  • Received a report concerning water running onto our property from the Temple property.
  • The Jim Gardner property line is still unresolved.He is getting his own surveyor.
  • The outgoing north gate is moving slowly.

 

PRESIDENTíS REPORT: Ed Bangsund

  • A schedule of the 2010 meetings was sent to all Board members and the MVCC staff.
  • Discussed the results of a meeting with Lot owner #267 concerning procedure problems with the guards.It was agreed that the guards should refer the homeowner to a Board member to handle.
  • Information from the Evergreen Sign Company was distributed, copy in file.Decisions where made concerning the signage for the security truck.
  • Notified Security officers that no food or drinks, except water, is allowed in the Security truck.Discussion was also held concerning washing the truck; we will use tokens for the Southey car wash until a charge card becomes available.
  • We will not purchase snow tires for the Security truck, if needed this winter we will purchase chains.
  • A seat organizer for the Security truck was purchased for $50.
  • Kerry Ryan, one of the security guards, may be leaving.
  • We have a copy of the City of Kentís Fireworks ordinance, which we will abide by.Fireworks may be used from 9 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on the 4th of July.This will be part of the June newsletter.
  • The paper work for the dog problem at Lot 255 was provided to Dale Mjelde.He was also given information concerning what took place with the dog from Lot 298, for legal reference.
  • The next newsletter will be in February, each chairman should provide a brief description of their newly assigned jobs.Get the articles to Cheryl as soon as possible.
  • We will investigate the possibility of keeping the north and south gates open until††††† 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
